Some Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I choose Natalie Anne Photography?
Choosing a photographer can be overwhelming.  There are so many photographers, so many packages offered, so many decisions to make.  Maybe you've had some bad experiences with studio photographers in the past.  Maybe you've booked an appointment, rushed to the studio to make your session time, waited in the lobby while your kids started their melt downs, and then felt pressured to purchase photographs that you really aren't pleased with in the first place - but do just to get out of there and go home for nap time.  Maybe you have a vision of what types of portraits you'd like, but can't pay enormous sitting fees and printing prices that sometimes come with that "style" of photography.  I am here to make your experience different.

I take the time to get to know you and your family before we even begin taking pictures.  I want to know about your child's favorite toy.  I want to know about a fun family trip you've taken.  I'm interested in the restaurant you and your significant other enjoyed last week.  My casual style puts clients at ease.  There's no pressure to get the perfect pose (unless you have an idea you'd like me to help replicate!)  In the end, I want you to enjoy the session, find that you're having fun during the process, and be thrilled with the end results.

What is your photography style?
This one is pretty simple:  it all depends on YOU!  I don't want to limit myself or my photography reputation to a certain style.  It all depends on the client and what you are looking for in your session.  If you are most comfortable with traditional styled portraits, then that's what we'll do.  If you prefer "lifestyle" and candid photography where I let you and your family enjoy each other and have fun, then that's what I'll capture.  If you like a little of both styles, that's great!  Take a look at my portfolio and decide what you think my style is =)... and hopefully it's a match for what YOU want!

What should I (and my family) wear in portraits?
The simple answer is that you and your family should wear what makes you comfortable.  Wear what's you.  There are colors that work really well together, and some patterns that should probably be avoided.  I have some great resources for you to check out that will hopefully inspire you.  A simple white or black shirt and jeans is classic! Coordinating colors for families help add some pizazz to photos.

Where do you shoot?
I have a few favorite spots for pictures, but if you've got a favorite spot or a neat location you've spotted, let's go there!  Your session is driven by you and your ideas - and I'm certainly here to help guide you if that's what you need.  I shoot mainly outdoors in natural light, but I will soon be offering sessions in my in-home studio.  I will travel to your home and shoot inside if you'd like.  The outdoors brings so much more to photos with scenery, natural lighting... but again, the sky is the limit.  You decide!

How long does a typical session last?
I don't put time limits on your session.  For family sessions, plan on about an hour.  Newborn sessions are typically longer.

How long will it take to get my pictures?
After your session, the real work begins for me.  This is another part of photography that I absolutely love!  It's about creating art for you to treasure.  I'll choose some photos for black and white, some left in color.  Turn-around time is between one and two weeks (and I'll be sure to give you a little sneak-peek in the meantime).  After I have finished your photos, we'll meet again for you to view your photos.  From there, you'll choose photos for printing from me.

What is a model release and why do I sign it?
In addition to the contract you'll sign, I also include a model release.  This states that I own the copyright to the pictures and that you are giving me permission to post pictures to my pages for marketing purposes.  I am proud of my work and love to share it with others!  You certainly can opt out of this if you'd like.
